Our leisure centres are open! We've made lots of changes to limit user numbers, keep everywhere clean and keep everyone safe in our gyms, classes and pools. Everything you need to know before you bisit is available on our re-opening information page. Find out more.

We are open

We have re-opened all of our leisure centres and are enjoying seeing regulars coming back and even some new faces in our classes, gyms and pools.

The safety of our staff and customers is of paramount importance to us. We have been working with UK Active, CIMSPA, Swim England and government guidelines to ensure that our centres are safe places to work and work out and swim.

The centres have been deep cleaned and we have introduced additional cleaning routines, along with cleaning stations and hand sanitisers, one way systems and we've made pre-booking mandatory, so that we can limit the number of people in each session/class/pool at any time.

The changes changes we have introduced in order to keep everyone safe are outlined below and featured in our video. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page for further information.

Extra cleaning measures

All centres have been thoroughly cleaned before they re-opened. There will be additional cleaning of all centres throughout each day. All equipment will have been cleaned before you arrive for your session.

Cleaning stations will be available in all workout areas and we ask customers to clean any equipment after they have used it.

Hand sanitisers will also be available throughout the centres for you to use before, during and after your workout.

Reduced capacity and pre-booking

To ensure you can easily maintain social distances from others, you will need to pre-book a time slot for a gym session, a swim or exercise class and only visit within that timeslot, please arrive and queue 10 minutes before your allocated time. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late for your session you may not be allowed to participate. All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance.

Activities are bookable through the Gedling Leisure app and online. If you prefer to book by phone, please call the relevant leisure centre. To book a session you will need to either be a DNA member or to have a Gedling Leisure Card (and pay as you go). You can apply for a free Gedling Leisure Card here until 30 September.

Gym and classes

  • We have made changes to enable social distancing to take place in all areas.
  • Please arrive dressed ready to work out – lockers and changing rooms are out of use.
  • Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your session time. This includes all activities.
  • Gym users will be given 15 minute’s grace after their session start time to allow for late arrival. Please note, session end time will remain the same.
  • You may bring a small bag for essentials but no towels.
  • We are limiting the number of people in the foyer. If you have to queue on arrival, please adhere to the floor markings and maintain a 2m distance from others.
  • After showing your booking reference at reception, please follow the signage and the one way system in place. You may be using different rooms to the ones you were used to. Our staff and signage will guide you to the correct place.
  • Gym equipment has been spread out with clearly marked areas, to allow at least 2 metres from you and another customer.  Some machines will be marked as out of use and there is a one way system in the gym spaces, to help everyone to keep their distances.
  • All classes also have floor markings to ensure people have at least 2 metres between them and the next person.

Swimming pools

Our swimming pools are open (except for Calverton Leisure Centre's pool, as the changing rooms are undergoing rennovation). We have increased the cleaning measures, are limiting swimmer numbers and introduced other changes to keep you safe while you swim.

Swimming direct debits have been suspended free of charge.

Public swim sessions

  • Each public swim session in the pool is 50 minutes and must be booked in advance. Please note you will not be allowed into the pool without a booking. To book a session you will need a Gedling Leisure card, you can apply for a free Leisure card here.
  • No spectators are allowed on site for public swimming sessions until further notice.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your session to allow time to get changed and in to the pool ready for the start of your session. If you arrive late you may not be allowed to access your session.
  • Public swim sessions take place in lanes and requires customers to swim lengths in a clockwise direction to ensure social distancing
  • Changing facilities and lockers will be available for use, but we advise customers to come with their costumes on underneath their clothes so time spent in the changing room is kept to a minimum.
  • At the end of the session the lifeguards will instruct customers to exit the pool.

Interim junior swimming lessons

These additional lessons have been added to the schedule for summer 2020. You can book a block of 5 lessons for £30. Find out more.

Badminton

We are re-introducing bookings for badminton at Redhill, Calverton and Carlton Forum. There is limited court availability and we have made changes to keep you safe while on site:

  • Courts must be booked (online, by phone or via the app) and paid for in advance. Visit the relevant leisure centre’s badminton/sports hall booking page. Once you have logged in you will be able to see which courts are available to book at which times.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes before your session. You will need to give you membership or booking number at reception. You will then follow the signs to the sports hall.
  • After your session, you will leave the centre by a different door (one of our staff will direct you).
  • Doubles games can be played across different households or social bubbles as long as there is a safe social distance throughout.
  • Singles games can be played across different households or social bubbles
  • Social distancing must be maintained at all times
  • All equipment must be provided by the players
  • Please arrive ready to play and bring only essential items with you, as lockers and changing facilities are not available. Toilets are available.

Sorry, we are not yet able to offer squash courts.

Opening hours

We are temporarily reducing the number of hours the sites are open, to ensure we have sufficient staff available to carry out additional cleaning. Opening hours will be kept under review.
