Making an Application

There is a Standard Planning Application Form (1APP) for each type of application that may be required.

All of the 1APP forms are available from the Planning Portal, which enables you to either apply online or to fill out the forms electronically and then download them.

We can only accept PDF drawings that are either fully marked up with dimensions or clearly indicate both the paper size and scale on the drawing. However, site location plans in other formats (such as .BMP or .JPEG) are acceptable.

Validation

Linked to 1APP are checklists for the validation of planning applications, to help you ensure that all the necessary information is provided in order to process your application.

These consist of a national core list, setting out the statutory requirements that will apply in all cases, and additional items specified locally from a list provided by central government, which consists of additional information which the Borough Council considers necessary to validate an application.

It is essential that you submit all the information required on either the List of National Requirements or List of Local Requirements [140kb] ,which the Borough Council adopted on 9th April 2008, otherwise your application will be invalid and will not be processed until this information is received.

You need to supply four copies of all of the documents submitted as part your planning application, along with the correct fee. You are encouraged to thoroughly check your application before you submit it, as it will not be considered until all of the necessary information has been received.
