Consultation Monday 24 January - extended to Thursday 17th March 2011
Conservation Area Appraisal is now closed. We are considering responses received and will make them available in due course.
The draft Appraisal highlights the specific qualities of Papplewick that are worthy of protection and enhancement. The draft Appendices also include a Management Strategy and suggested boundary revisions to the Conservation Area. The proposed Management Strategy introduces an Article 4 Direction which would remove certain permitted development rights to residential properties.
Article 4 Directions are issued by the Council in circumstances where specific control over development is required, primarily where the character of an area of acknowledged importance would be threatened. Such Directions are usually applied over an area rather than an individual property and are registered as a Local Land Charge.
The reasons for the changes and the need for the Article 4 Direction are set out in the Papplewick Conservation Area Appraisal.
