Aligned Core Strategy Option for Consultation 2010

The Option for Consultation document was prepared using comments made during the 2009 Issues and Options consultation and uses government guidance and technical evidence prepared by the Local Authorities. The document includes a vision and a detailed planning strategy for Greater Nottingham and contains 19 policies to bring about the vision.

There are three sections:

Section 1 introduces the Aligned Core Strategy and 2010 Consultation.
Section 2 looks at the character of Greater Nottingham and outlines a vision for how it could change. There is a 'Local Distinctiveness' section for each Borough.
Section 3 is a Delivery Strategy to realise the vision outlined in Section 2. There are core policies in four areas: Sustainable Growth, Places for People, Our Environment and Making it Happen.

Aligned Core Strategy Issues and Options Consultation 2009

The Consultation period for the Aligned Core Strategy Issues and Options document ran between 15 June and 31 July 2009. Consideration of the comments received at this stage included consideration of the comments made during the two consultation exercises relating to the Council's first Core Strategy (2006/07).

The full Issues and Options document consists of four main sections:

Section 1 introduces the concept of Aligned Core Strategies
Section 2 looks at the character of Greater Nottingham and the Borough both now and in the future
Section 3 sets out the key spatial issues which need to be addressed across the area as a whole, and which will require a strategic consistent policy approach if they are to be resolved
Section 4 sets out, for each council area, those issues which are of more local importance, and therefore can be resolved within that council’s area.

NB. Leaflets 11, 12, 14 and 15 are Local Issues specific to the Broxtowe, Erewash, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe areas.

First Core Strategy (2006/2007)

Initially we began work on a Core Strategy solely for the Borough. However, since the introduction of the new Local Development Framework planning system in 2004, government policy affecting core strategies has been clarified with regard to the document's content and the procedures in place for its preparation.

We therefore decided to revisit our earlier work to ensure we comply with the most up to date guidance on good practice.

The Borough Council has prepared a report "Summary of Consultation on the Issues and Options Paper". This is a summary of the comments received from stakeholder groups and organisations on the first Core Strategy ‘Issues and Options Paper’ and the Council’s response to the points raised.
