The Option for Consultation document was prepared using comments made during the 2009 Issues and Options consultation and uses government guidance and technical evidence prepared by the Local Authorities. The document includes a vision and a detailed planning strategy for Greater Nottingham and contains 19 policies to bring about the vision.

The Consultation period for the Aligned Core Strategy Issues and Options document ran between 15 June and 31 July 2009. Consideration of the comments received at this stage included consideration of the comments made during the two consultation exercises relating to the Council's first Core Strategy (2006/07).

Initially we began work on a Core Strategy solely for the Borough. However, since the introduction of the new Local Development Framework planning system in 2004, government policy affecting core strategies has been clarified with regard to the document's content and the procedures in place for its preparation.
We therefore decided to revisit our earlier work to ensure we comply with the most up to date guidance on good practice.
Issues and Options stage
Consultation with key stakeholder groups and organisations on the first Core Strategy ‘Issues and Options' stage was undertaken in April 2006.
The Borough Council has prepared a report "Summary of Consultation on the Issues and Options Paper". This is a summary of the comments received from stakeholder groups and organisations on the first Core Strategy ‘Issues and Options Paper’ and the Council’s response to the points raised.
All comments made at this stage helped inform the Preferred Options stage of the first Core Strategy, as outlined below.
