Habitats Regulations Appraisal - Screening Record September 2010

This report, prepared by David Tyldesley and Associates, tests the Greater Nottingham Aligned Core Strategies Option for Consultation for its potential effects on European sites.

Habitats Regulations Appraisal - Scoping for Further Assessment September 2010

This report, prepared by David Tyldesley and Associates, builds on the conclusions of the Screening Report due to the potential effect of the Top Wighay Farm allocation on the Park Forest part of the prospective Sherwood Forest Special Protection Area.

Landscape Character Assessment 2009 - Reports

An assessment of the condition of the landscapes and the strength of landscape character in Nottinghamshire, undertaken by TEP on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council and the district councils within Greater Nottingham.

Landscape Character Assessment – Policy Zones

The main aim of Landscape Character Assessment is to divide the county character areas into a series of 'Policy Zones' each with landscape strategies.

Low Carbon Energy Opportunities and Heat Mapping March 2011

East Midlands Councils commissioned LUC, CSE and SQW to review the potential for low carbon energy within the East Midlands.  The aim was to prepare a comprehensive evidence base that would allow local planning authorities across the region to develop well-founded policies that support low carbon energy deployment up to 2030. 

Greater Nottingham Strategic Flood Risk Assessment [675kb]  

The assessment was prepared by Black & Veach in June 2008 (updated October 2008 and October 2010) in consultation with the Environment Agency to inform how future development should take place and to assist emergency planning in Greater Nottingham.   The full technical version of the strategic flood risk assessment (including maps) is available on CD free of charge. 

Outline Water Cycle Study February 2010

Prepared by Entec consultants, this report considers in more detail the likely water related constraints and impacts of the development levels set out in the Regional Spatial Strategy for Greater Nottingham and Ashfield (this is a large document).

Recreation and Leisure Strategies

Leisure Services have produced a series of strategies to outline Gedling’s vision, objectives and targets for future service delivery.

Sustainable Energy Policy Framework November 2009

Study to inform future planning policy guidance on how to raise low and zero carbon energy performance in new developments.  The work was undertaken by all of the Nottinghamshire authorities and co-ordinated by Nottinghamshire County Council.

Accessible Settlements Study February 2010 [1,470kb]  

Study prepared by Nottinghamshire County Council with input from Derbyshire County Council, the Greater Nottingham authorities and Ashfield, to establish common means of measuring and assessing the level of accessibility of existing settlements.

Infrastructure Capacity Study June 2009 [1,053kb]  

This study was undertaken to assess and understand the implications of the planned development of the Greater Nottingham area.

Nottingham Principal Urban Area Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment April 2007 (PDF)

Nottingham Principal Urban Area Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment Joint Position Statement (PDF)

The Assessment was produced by Ekos Consulting and Arup to inform the panel at the East Midlands Regional Plan Examination in Public about the broad scale of potential housing capacity in the Nottingham Principal Urban Area.  The Assessment also looks to justify the need for Sustainable Urban Extensions, as proposed in the Regional Plan (this is a large document).  A joint position statement is also available.

Strategic Distribution Site Study for the Three Cities Sub-area 2010

The Study investigates potentially suitable sites for rail connected Strategic Distribution Sites in the combined Housing Market Areas of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester which make up the Three Cities Sub-area.  The study was undertaken by AECOM

Sustainable Locations for Growth Study February 2010

Commissioned to follow on from the Appraisal of Sustainable Urban Extensions Study 2008, it covers the non Principal Urban Area of Greater Nottingham, The study was led by Tribal and supported by Roger Tym and Partners and Campell Reith.

Sustainable Urban Extensions Study June 2008 (PDF)

Study to identify possible locations for housing development across the Greater Nottingham area and to outline the pros and cons of each proposed site.  The study does not in itself allow development to take place on sites. Greater Nottingham Partners commissioned Tribal Urban Studio, supported by Roger Tym and Partners and Campbell Reith to produce this study (this is a large document).

Affordable Housing Viability Study November 2009 [913kb] 

 study undertaken for Nottingham Core authorities by the Three Dragons to look at whether developments of new housing would be viable with different levels of affordable housing in different parts of the Borough.

Dwelling Size Research Report March 2010 [4,335kb]

 Study undertaken for the Nottingham Core authorities by Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners to look at the relationship between household size and dwelling size in future housing provision. 

Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Needs Assessment May 2007 [1,385kb]

 Study undertaken by Tribal for the East Midlands Traveller Association and other local authorities under Nottinghamshire County Council (excluding Bassetlaw) in order to make planned provision for this community.  The assessment aims to understand their accommodation and related support needs.

Homelessness Strategy 2008-2013

The Homelessness Act 2002 requires all local authorities to carry out a review of homelessness and homelessness services in their area.

Housing Strategy March 2010- 2014

Sets out our objectives for housing up to 2014 but does not cover how many new homes should be built or where they should be located.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

An annual review of available housing sites carried out in conjunction with the Greater Nottingham Authorities collated from new planning permissions and sites submitted by landowners and developers, (Note: the assessment in itself does not allow development to take place on site and planning permission must still be granted.

Strategic Housing Market Assessment and Gedling report-updated 2009 [1,983kb]  

Government has changed the way Councils are required to assess housing need and demand in their area.  The needs section of the 2006/07 assessment was therefore updated by B.Line Housing Information Ltd.

Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2006/2007

A Study covering Greater Nottingham carried out by B.Line Housing Information/Three Dragons consortium to assess housing need and demand to help inform long-term housing and planning strategies.
