Natural Environment

Woodland trees Local Nature Reserves are of local, but not necessarily national, nature conservation importance. The reserves are almost always owned by local authorities and they often pass the management of the Local Nature Reserve onto County Wildlife Trusts. They also often have good public access and facilities.

Gedling Borough Council currently has three Local Nature Reserves. These are:

Gedling House Wood (designated 1992)
Gedling House Meadow (designated 2007)
Netherfield Lagoons (designated 2007)

Please note the following:

The Local Nature Reserves boundaries are shown on the Gedling Replacement Local Plan Proposals Map. Gedling House Meadow and Netherfield Lagoons are identified as proposed Local Nature Reserves which reflects their status at the time of the adoption of the Local Plan (July 2005).
Following the adoption of the Local Plan, it has been noted that there is in fact no Local Nature Reserve at Linby Trail (as incorrectly mentioned in Policy ENV 36 paragraph 1.82 of the Local Plan and shown on the Proposals Map).
