The Replacement Local Plan, adopted 12 July 2005, provides the main planning framework for the Borough. The Local Plan identifies particular areas as suitable for housing, industry, retail and other uses. It includes specific policies to control the location and design of development within the Borough and to protect its heritage and local character. Planning applications are assessed against the Local Plan.
The Local Plan will gradually be replaced by documents being prepared under the Local Development Framework system (introduced in 2004), including the Core Strategy which is currently being prepared.
Gedling's Replacement Local Plan comprises a Written Statement and a Proposals Map.
Paper copies can be viewed at the Civic Centre or in any local library in the Borough. The Plan can also be purchased for £20.00 plus postage by arrangement with the Planning Policy team.
The report into the Local Plan Inquiry was received (on 12th March & 19th May 2004) and may be downloaded. In addition, the document may be viewed at local libraries or hard copies obtained from the Borough Council offices at the Civic Centre in Arnold, £15.00 plus postage by arrangement with the Planning Policy Team.
The Council considered the Inspector's recommendations and its response to them. A Statement of Decisions and Proposed Modifications was prepared which set out the Council's response to each of the Inspector's Recommendations and whether the recommendation was accepted by the Council. The document also sets out all the Proposed Modifications to the Revised Deposit Local Plan and the reasons for them.
A number of Technical Papers have been prepared and can be downloaded which provide background information to various aspects of the Local Plan. Technical Paper 3 has been revised in order to address the Environmental Appraisal of the Proposed Modifications to the Revised Deposit Local Plan.
As part of the new system, the Replacement Local Plan was reviewed and policies either saved or deleted in July 2008. The electronic version of the Local Plan identifies which policies have been deleted and no longer apply. The paper document does not, and needs to be read in conjunction with the covering letter from Government Office and the Schedule of saved policies.
