Household Waste
All households in Gedling Borough should have three waste items for collection. A green bin, a black bin and a box for glass.
Throughout the year both bins will be collected on alternative weeks with your glass box being emptied on the same day as your green bin.
If you need to dispose of waste or recycling before your fortnightly collection you can use one of Nottinghamshire's Household Waste Recycling Centres. Gedling Borough's Household Waste Recycling Centre is on Hollinwood Lane, Calverton, NG14 6NR.
All Household Waste Recycling Centres are managed by Nottinghamshire County Council.
Once the bin lorry has finished collecting the contents of the black bins for that day it will go to either Dorket Head landfill site or the Eastcroft incinerator.
Dorket Head landfill site
This is located between Arnold and Calverton and it is basically a big hole in the ground where your general rubbish is buried.
Eastcroft Incinerator
This is located near Nottingham City Centre off London Road and is where your waste is burned. The energy produced from burning the waste is piped underground and used to heat homes and businesses in Nottingham.
