Your green bin is your recycling bin. Use it to recycle paper, card, cans, plastic bottles, margarine tubs and yoghurt pots. Please do not put your recycling into plastic carrier bags as this contaminates the load which may result in it being sent to a landfill site instead of being recycled.

We have a number of recycling centres within the borough where you can bring your recycling. View our Waste & Recycling Centres page for a full list along with what can be recycled.
Use these bins to put all your drinks bottles and food jars in. Please make sure remove lids first- metal/plastic lids can go in your green bins. We will collect these bins on the same days as your green bins, please put them out by 7am on your collection day (bank holidays at 6am).
Please do not place broken glass, spectacles, cooking dishes, light bulbs or window glass in your glass box. Alternatively you can take these items to you local waste and recycling centre (tip).
Put all your clean drinks bottles and food jars in.
Please make sure remove lids first- metal/plastic lids can go in the green bin.
We will empty your glass box on the same days as your green bin. Please put it out by 7am on collection day (6am for public holiday collections). Glass box lids should not be put out as they may blow away.

STOP! Can it be recycled?
Please only put items into the black bin that cannot be recycled in the green bin, glass box or at a local Recycling Centre or at a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Paint tins should not be put in the black bin, unless all the paint has gone hard.
Batteries, electrical items, fluorescent tubes, light bulbs, liquids and rubble should be taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Black bins that are very heavy to move will not be emptied. Bin lids should be closed and side waste will not be taken away.
