School Recycling

Any school in Gedling Borough can recycle their paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tins and cans by requesting a recycling bin. Please note there will be a charge for this service. Recycling collections are fortnightly and schools can choose whether they receive collections through the school holidays.

A variety of bin sizes are available and we offer a reduced price for multiple recycling bins.

Schools Waste Action Club

Nottinghamshire County Council runs a Schools Waste Action Club (SWAC), which is a waste education programme that we provide free of charge to primary, secondary and special needs schools throughout Nottinghamshire.

It aims to:

Increase awareness of waste and its management among school staff and pupils
Encourage and support schools to reduce, reuse and recycle waste
Transfer the knowledge gained by pupils and staff from working on waste at school to achieve increasingly sustainable waste management in the home.

Eco Schools programme

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life.

The benefits of joining the Eco-Schools programme include saving money, recognition and publicity, links to the curriculum, links to the community and improvements in the school.

School Waste

The general waste from schools will be collected weekly throughout term time, with extra collections available on request. Please note that there is a charge for general waste and recycling to be collected from schools within Gedling Borough. Various bin sizes are available.
