Youth activities

We have some great activities for younger visitors to our leisure centres to enjoy.

Anyone aged 14-17 can take out an Xtreme DNA membership, which gives access to lots of fun activities, from swimming to roller discos, a well as unlimited access to 3 gyms and loads of fitness classes – so there’s lots to keep active with.

If you're not a member you can pay as you go with a Gedling Leisure Card.

If you want to try our activites our for free, anyone aged 8+ can order a FREE three day pass and use it to try out these activities. To really max it out, pick something to do on three consecutive days at any of our leisure centres and try a different activity each day for free, for example try out Capoeira Fusion at Redhill on Thursday and go to the Roller Disco at on Friday, then swim in Arnold on Saturday.

Capoeira Fusion (Street Capoeira)

Redhill Leisure Centre, Thursdays, 6-7pm
For ages 7-14 (An adult must stay in the venue for under 8s)
£4.10 with a Gedling Leisure Card (free for Xtreme DNA members)

A dynamic mix of Capoeira (a Brazilian martial art), tricking, parkour and acrobatics. These sessions are the ultimate training session to improve your strength, fitness, flexibility, balance, spatial awareness and confidence. Roller Disco

Redhill Leisure Centre, Fridays, 5-6.30pm
For ages 5 to 16 (An adult must stay in the sports hall for under 8s)
£4.10 with a Gedling Leisure Card (free for Xtreme DNA members). Includes skate hire if needed

Come and have fun with your mates skating around our sports hall. Bring your own roller skates or roller blades, or we have a limited amount of skates available to hire for free at the centre (available on a first come first served basis). To book, call Redhill’s reception on 0115 901 3630.

Junior judo

Carlton Forum Leisure Centre, Sundays, 10.30-11.30am for ages 5-9 (Under 8s will need an adult to stay during the session), 11.30am-12.30pm for ages 10 – 17.
£5 for with a Gedling Leisure card.

Join qualified coaches from Carlton Judo Club for one of our junior judo sessions and learn one of the world’s most popular martial arts. To book, call Carlton Forum reception on 0115 901 3660.

Fun pool sessions

We have loads of fun swimming sessions in our pools, like inflatafun (with our giant inflatables), float fun (with giant floats) and aqua aerobics, as well as Swim Stars lessons, to help you feel more confident in the water. Find out more about all of our pool sessions at the Swim Sessions page.

Friday Fun sessions 

Calverton Leisure Centre, Fridays 5.30pm - 6.30pm (8-11 yrs) and 6.45pm - 7.45pm (11-13 yrs).

These sessions include the Sports Fun House inflatable, climbing wall, rope swing and multiple drop slides, with 5-a-side football & basketball.

£4.10 with a Gedling Leisure Card (not included in Xtreme DNA memberships).

Sessions are supervised by staff. Book onto a session online, at the Calverton Leisure Centre reception or call 0115 901 3800.

Zoo Trail Fun sessions

Calverton Leisure Centre, Sundays 10 - 11am (ages 0-13)

These sessions include the Zoo Trail inflatable, soft play, mini football and basketball.

£4.10 with a Gedling Leisure Card (not included in Xtreme DNA memberships).

All children must be supervised by an adult during the session. Book onto a session online, at Calverton Leisure Centre reception or call 0115 901 3800.

Lifeguard sessions

Carlton Forum Leisure Centre, Wednesdays 6.45-7.30pm (for ages 8-14)

A great way to learn new skills. Learners must be able to swim 50m comfortable and be confident in deep water.  Please call the centre on  0115 901 3660 to enquire or book.
