Polling place interim review

The consultation on the interim review of polling places has now concluded and we thank you for the comments, observations and representations that were submitted. The Returning Officer has decided that the polling stations to be used for the May 2023 elections will be using polling stations as per the proposals listed below.

We will be undertaking the statutory review of Polling Districts and Polling Places, as required by Section 17 of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, in 2024.

Interim review of polling places for May 2023 elections

Gedling Borough Council are undertaking an interim review of polling places due to the significant changes coming into force from the May 2023 elections as a result of the Elections Act 2022. These changes mean that the Returning Officer needs to have a higher regards to accessibility provisions and will need to ensure there are separate areas or rooms for the private checking of photo identification at every polling station.

This interim review is not the statutory review that will take place in 2024, however we are inviting public comments, observations and representations on the changes suggested for the elections in May 2023. The consultation will run between 17 February to 3 March 2023 - if you would like to make any representations on the proposed changes, please submit them via email to elections@gedling.gov.uk or via post to the below address by 3 March 2023.
