Empower Education: Empowered Teens!

(Positively Empowered Kids)

Can understanding our mental health be enjoyable?  Yes of course it can!

We will dive into the teen brain and discover what is actually happening, and why we sometimes experience big outbursts of anger or feel anxious!  Then we will go on a journey to explore and discover how to navigate and calm those difficult emotions much more easily, and create your own teen toolkit to use when you need it!

You will need paper and pens for this session.

Suitable for 11 – 16yrs - virtual session

Wednesday 7 April 10:30-11:15 Positively Empowered Kids: Discovering your superpowers!

This session is for all the family! Have fun discovering your incredible ‘superpowers’ that will help you feel amazing!  Growing your self belief and being kind to ourselves and each other will help us to achieve so much more as a person and together as a family.

Thursday 8 April  10:30- 11:30 Jobcentre Plus Employability Session

This online session is for anyone who is 19 or older and has a long term health condition.  It will give you the chance to get an idea of some of the courses that you could sign up for – these are great for meeting new people and learning new things!  There will be three short tasters:

Thinking about fitness

Writing in your words

A Moment of Mindfulness

We will also look at all of Inspire Learning’s programme and talk through how to book if you are interested.  One of our Way2Work advisers will also be on hand to let you know how we might be able to help you find work or change your career.  Email sarah.layzell@dwp.gov.uk or christine.kirby@dwp.gov.uk to book a place!

Monday 12 April  10:30- 11:15 Positively Empowered Kids: What’s in your stress container?

Being a teenager can feel like an uphill struggle, with responsibilities, exams, stress and hormones to navigate, not to mention working out who we really are. We’re here to help you identify those limiting thoughts when they creep up and give you some easy to use ways to work through them and boost your confidence.

You will need paper and pens for this session.

Tuesday 13 April 14:30- 15:15

Positive Pants Session: Let it go!

Recognising emotions can be a real challenge for children and often results in an outburst if not recognised in time. In this workshop, we will use the metaphor of a balloon to demonstrate how we can use breathing to calm our emotions, release any worries and let them go flying around the room! Expect lots of laughter!

Your child will need paper and colouring pens.

(Balloon is not essential but if you have one then great!)
