Arnold Market Place Consultation

We want you to have you say to help shape the future of Arnold Market Place

Please note : This consultation has now ended, we will update residents with the results in the near future, thank you to everyone who submitted an online survey or spoke to us at one of our consultation events.

The market site was purchased by the council in 2017 with an aim of redeveloping the site to support the high street economy by creating a vibrant and thriving hub in the heart of the town centre.  This will be achieved by improving its appearance, increasing the use for community events and activities and working with market traders to widen and increase the choice of goods and services.

Following on the feedback given during the last consultation, the council’s Economic Growth & Regeneration team have been busy preparing options for the Market Place.

The proposals include:

  • The construction of a new landmark building between the existing Methodist Church and King George V Park.
  • A two-storey building which would frame the new market place as well as create a new eastern gateway into the town.
  • A new public space could be created as a central focal point for the Market.

The new buildings would provide an array of smaller outlets for local independent businesses with flexible commercial space above.

These proposals and new outlets would complement the existing high street and revitalise this area of the town, which in turn will act as a catalyst to promote wider town regeneration opportunities.
