16. Broad-leaved lime
This particular large broadleaved ‘Lime’ is a rich home for wildlife with its heart-shaped foliage attracting many Aphids for its predators to feast on. Similarly, beneath these leaves, a sweet and sticky ‘Honeydew’ is often found and this is also beneficial to bees. Whilst the bark of this tree is darker and smoother than other Lime species and the flowers are green-yellow in colour and are a good source of nectar and pollen for bees.
