Interim Junior Swimming Lessons

We have added a number of new junior swimming lessons to the programme which will be allocated on a "first come, first serve" basis.

The lessons follow Government and Swim England guidelines. This means:

  • Class sizes will be reduced to 5 or 6 swimmers, depending on the pool
  • Lessons will last 20 minutes
  • One guardian is allowed on site per child, and will be allocated a chair on poolside for the duration of the lessons. The child’s clothing will be kept by the parent.
  • Changing rooms will be allocated to customers on arrival.
  • For stage 1 classes there will be no instructor in the pool. If you feel this will hinder your child’s progress, please do not book on the lessons

If you wish your child to take part in these new lessons you will need to call the relevant leisure centre to book, you can find the contact information on the our centres page. You will need to pay for a block of 7 lessons (£42) at the time of booking.

Please note: These lessons do not replace the main swimming lessons that we operated before the closure. If your child is booked on those main lessons, then their place will continue to be held for them, providing you have not cancelled your direct debit instruction. We will not collect any direct debit payments for the main lessons until we are in a position to re-start them. At that point we will write to you and inform you of the start date.

FAQs

What happens to my swimming lesson direct debit membership when you re-open the sites?

We will not collect any direct debit payment for swimming lessons during the time they are not running. When the normal swimming lessons resume later in the year we will write to you and inform you when the direct debit payments will resume. If you cancel your direct debit instruction with the bank, your child will lose their place on these lessons.

If my child goes on the interim lessons when you re-open, will it count towards their progress and badges?

Yes absolutely. We will still assess your child’s swimming and update the home portal, just like the normal lessons, so if your child does attend the interim lessons, they will still develop and move their score up to the pass score of 100% for each stage.

How do I know it’s safe for my child to attend lessons?

We are following the guidelines laid out by the Government and Swim England. The safety of our staff and customers is paramount and as such we have reduced the numbers in classes and introduced a thorough cleaning regime of the poolside and changing facilities.

We ask that customers follow the guidelines we have put on our website and the signs around the centre and that you stay away from the leisure centre if any member of their household is experiencing symptoms of Covid-19.

What if we have to self-isolate once we’ve committed to the temporary lessons?

Please let us know and we will provide you with a refund for any unused lessons.
