Registering to vote, absent votes, and voter ID
The deadline to register to vote was 11:59pm on Tuesday 17 June.
The deadline for applying for a postal vote or changing any arrangements relating to your current postal vote was 5pm on Wednesday 18 June.
You can also apply online for some types of proxy votes using the online government service (Apply for a proxy vote - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)). The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 25 June 2025.
At these elections you will need to bring acceptable photo ID to be able to vote at a polling station. Those voting by postal vote do not need to provide ID as separate security measures are already in place for voting by post. If you do not have an allowed form of photo ID, you can also apply online for a free VAC - Voter Authority Certificate here (Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)). The deadline for applying for a VAC is 5pm on Wednesday 25 June 2025.
