Notts County Council and Porchester Ward Election
Elections for County Councillors in Nottinghamshire will take place on Thursday 1 May 2025. Gedling Borough Council will be administering the election for the 9 seats that are within the Borough of Gedling – these make up 2 seats in the Arnold North division, 2 seats in the Arnold South division, 1 seat in the Calverton division, 1 seat in the Carlton East division, 2 seats in the Carlton West division and 1 seat in the Newstead division.
There is also an election within the Porchester ward of Gedling Borough Council on the same date due to the resignation of Michelle Welsh.

Registering to vote, absent votes, and voter ID.
If you are not already registered to vote, then the quickest and easiest way to do this is to go online at www.gov.uk/registertovote. The deadline to register to vote in the UKPGE is 11:59pm on Friday 11 April - for more details about registering to vote click here (Register to vote - Gedling Borough Council)
You can apply online for a postal vote using the online government service(Apply for a postal vote - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)). The deadline for applying for a postal vote or changing any arrangements relating to your current postal vote is 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.
You can also apply online for some types of proxy votes using the online government service (Apply for a proxy vote - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)). The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
At these elections you will need to bring acceptable photo ID to be able to vote at a polling station. Those voting by postal vote do not need to provide ID as separate security measures are already in place for voting by post. If you do not have an allowed form of photo ID, you can also apply online for a free VAC - Voter Authority Certificate here (Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)). The deadline for applying for a VAC is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
