Biodiversity Net Gain consultation
The Council is consulting on a draft Interim Planning Policy Statement (IPPS) on Biodiversity Net Gain between 9th January and 6th February 2024.
The Environment Act 2021 looks to secure ‘biodiversity net gain’ from net development and is expected to come into force from January 2024 for large sites and from 1st April 2024 for small sites. ‘Biodiversity net gain’ aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than it was before development took place. The purpose of the Interim Planning Policy Statement is to provide more detailed planning guidance for Gedling Borough in order to support future planning applications. Once adopted, the Interim Planning Policy Statement will be a material consideration for determining planning applications.
