Gedling Plan Consultation

Have your say on our plan and help shape our future priorities and services

We are launching a consultation on our Gedling Plan, which sets out the work we are going to do over the next four years. We are also asking you to tell us what you think about how we should spend our budget, and importantly, where we need to find further savings.

Did you know that for every £1 we collect in Council Tax, we receive just 8p. The rest goes to Nottinghamshire County Council (76p), to the Police and Crime Commissioner (12p), and to the Fire and Rescue Authority (4p).

We have a budget of £12 million a year to provide all of our services. This budget is getting more and more difficult to find due to significant reductions in government funding. We are one of the worst affected councils in the entire country and have been since 2015. We have lost over 12% of our funding and missed out on several government funding schemes, including most recently, a bid for £20 million from the Levelling Up fund.

We have made significant savings. We reduced our costs by £6 million yet we have continued to provide the same services. We have also transformed the way we work to be more efficient and reduce costs. However, we now need to find another £1 million in savings and we won’t know until the Autumn if we are to receive any extra help from government.

Therefore, we need you to help us shape our priorities. Please take this quick survey and tell us which of our current priorities matter to you the most and tell us where you think we should make further savings. Your input is very important to us making sure we develop a plan that meets the needs of our diverse borough.

You can read the current Gedling Plan and the Annual Report here, which details what we have done this year.

Help shape the future of Gedling, have your say.
