Brand new £95k play area for Carlton Park opens this week
Date Posted: 4:05 PM on Wed, 5 August 2020Conway Road Recreation Ground, Carlton, will benefit from a brand new children’s play area thanks to external funding.
The recreation ground, which currently features tennis courts and a bowling green, will see the addition of slides, roundabouts, multi play units, toddler and junior swings and other equipment as part of the new play area installation.
The play area will be officially opened by The Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Sandra Barnes, at an opening ceremony on Wednesday 5 August at 2pm.
Funding for the play area comes from FCC Communities foundation, a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, conservation and heritage projects from funds donated by waste and resource management company FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund. FCC Communities Foundation provided a grant total of £94,486 for the play area.

“It’s great to see the play area opening and ready to be used by local children, the enhancements to the park are fantastic and offer families with young children a great space to play and have fun for many years to come. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”

As a council, one of our key priorities is to enhance our parks and open spaces and these new facilities do just that.
