The Gedling Apprenticeship Fair is back and bigger than ever

Date Posted: 9:39 AM on Fri, 7 February 2020

Gedling Borough Council is teaming up with over 25 employers from across the region to encourage residents to see what apprenticeship opportunities are available.

The council is hosting its annual Apprenticeship Fair on February 11, at Arnold Methodist Church from 3.30pm-6pm. The event, now in its fifth year, gives visitors of any age an opportunity to meet employers and businesses face to face to discuss apprenticeships.

Previous events have increased in popularity year after year, with over 200 people attending the Apprenticeship fair in 2019.

Exhibitors at the event will be offering advice on a range of apprenticeship options such as careers in construction, business and administration, engineering, health, retail, hospitality, public sector, beauty and more.

Due to recent changes from central government there is now no longer an age limit, meaning more people than ever can apply to become an apprentice.

There will also be specialist CV workshops during the event to help visitors write their first CV or refresh an existing one, as well as help and support on completing applications.

Councillor Jenny Hollingsworth, Portfolio Holder for Growth and Regeneration said;

“This event is now in its fifth year and each year it just gets better and better with more people attending and more employers wanting to take part. One of the council’s priorities is to ensure local people, of all ages, are prepared and able to compete for jobs, and this event kick-starts that process. There are many career opportunities on the doorstep for people in the borough who are looking for a way into work and the Apprenticeship Fair is all about connecting these businesses and residents together.
