Council announces Easter egg trails across town centres

Gedling Borough Council has announced details of a number of events taking place across the borough to promote the Easter holidays and encourage people to shop locally.
Easter egg trails will be available in Arnold, Carlton, Mapperley, and Netherfield town centres. Residents can pick up trail sheets from participating retailers and search for decorated eggs along each trail, trading in completed sheets for a special Easter treat.
The trails in Arnold and Carlton will commence from Saturday 23 March, organised in collaboration with several local business groups, including the Arnold Local Area Forum and Carlton Hill Community Action Group. Several Churches in Mapperley and St George’s Centre in Netherfield have also organised their own trails with the council’s support. Gedling Borough Council’s Economic Growth team has been working alongside these business groups to create the trails and has generously donated over 500 Easter eggs to be given out as prizes. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance on Saturday, 30th March, at a special Easter Market at The AMP in Arnold.
Some of the decorated eggs to be displayed in shop windows in Arnold and Carlton Hill have been designed by local schoolchildren from various schools, as part of the council’s initiative to engage with the community and encourage young people to take part in the trails. The Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Julie Najuk, will be visiting participating retailers on Wednesday, 27th March, and will select her favourite ‘Easter Egg Window’ display. The winning schoolchildren will receive a special prize and certificate.
The aim of the trail is to promote local businesses as part of the council’s strategy to attract more shoppers to its town centres.

“We are delighted to announce a series of Easter egg trails that will take place across the borough’s town centres. We have been working with local business groups to support them in creating events that will encourage people to shop locally and showcase the great shops in our borough. We are also hosting a special Easter market in Arnold on Saturday, 30th March, where people can come and collect their eggs, all donated by Gedling Borough Council.
We already provide free two-hour parking for our town centres and will continue to do everything we can to encourage people to shop locally throughout the year by hosting events like this.”
