Gedling Borough Council has teamed up with local organisations to offer a range of activities for children, young people and families over the Easter Holiday Period.

The council is working alongside Futures Advice, The DWP, Positively Empowered Kids, Gedling Play Forum and City Arts, to host a range of virtual workshops, training sessions and craft activities for free, to residents across the borough.

Activities planned for the events include a photography project for 14-19 year olds with City Arts, careers advice and skills workshops from the DWP and Futures Advice, as well as a number of virtual sessions from Positively Empowered Kids who run events for children, teens and parents often focusing around understanding mental health and wellbeing. Sessions must be booked in advance and more details are available at www.gedling.gov.uk/easter-activities

As well as the virtual sessions being hosted throughout the week, the Council has also teamed up with Gedling Play Forum who have put together 300 spring activity packs for local families which are available to collect from Gedling Children’s centres.

Residents must call in advance to book a collection slot for the activity packs.

You can also call these numbers to arrange a collection from Calverton on Mondays and Killisick on Tuesday.

Councillor Viv McCrossen, Portfolio Holder for Young People and Equalities said;

“Part of our Gedling Plan is to deliver a programme of activities for communities and young people in our borough and these Easter Holiday events are just part of what we will be hosting throughout the year.

We want to do more for young people and their families across the borough, so organising events like this,  especially during the ongoing lockdowns when a lot of other usual half term activities may not be available, is just one of the ways we’re going to be engaging with our communities and provide opportunities for a for them to enjoy.”
