Hong Kong season of films at the Bonington Theatre

Bonington Theatre is pleased to announce a special Hong Kong season of films and events, commencing on September 30. This cinematic series will showcase a curated selection of Hong Kong films and accompanying events, including children’s games and a Director’s question and answer session. The programme aims to immerse audiences in the world of Hong Kong cinema, providing a unique cultural experience.

Running for a limited time, this exclusive film season will showcase films from Hong Kong in Cantonese with English subtitles. The cinema will be screening In the Mood for Love, directed by Wong Kar Wai, which was recently voted as one of the greatest films of all time, according to the BFI’s Critics Poll. They will also be showing A Guilty Conscience, the first Hong Kong movie to make HK$100 million at the box office. Other films included in the special season are animated adventure My Life as McDull and the story of protestors in Love In The Time of Revolution.

The season is being supported by the Hong Kong Community Group based in Nottingham and is funded by the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from the National Lottery in order to bring this project to more audiences across the UK.
