Stay Warm and Connected in Gedling this Winter
Date Posted: 2:07 PM on Thu, 30 January 2025
Originally produced to support the local community during the pandemic, The Gedling Guide can be found in local pick-up points such as medical practices, churches, community centres, post offices, libraries, leisure centres and other public outlets. It is a valuable community resource, which offers support and connection for local people.
The latest edition, updated in November 2024, is currently 44-pages and was recently distributed at the Arnold, Netherfield and Carlton Hill Christmas lights switch on events and Parish conference. This essential, free community directory contains six main sections including:
- Welcome & warm spaces, community hubs and food
- Help for children and families, including young people services
- Money, employment & energy advice
- Mental health and support for vulnerable people
- Gedling Borough Council services and outreach
- Community transport
Much of the information contained in the guide, is also available on our website and is regularly updated by the Communities team at Gedling Borough Council, who produce the Gedling Guide each year.
'Welcome and Warm' spaces are places within the local community where people can come together, socialise, stay warm and in some cases have hot refreshments.
Alongside Council venues, many of our valued Community Partners are also offering welcome and warm spaces, as well as other services and support, in local venues across the borough.
The guide is especially useful for those in need of help in our local community. It provides details of vital support organisations across the Gedling borough, such as those who can assist people who are experiencing domestic violence, addictions or struggling with the cost of living.
The Gedling Guide also contains some information about the Gedling Seniors Council and Gedling Youth Council, which represent the voices of these groups.
Production and printing of the Gedling Guide is supported by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Nottinghamshire County Council.
