SELAA
The Strategic Employment Land Availability Assessment (SELAA) assesses potential employment sites in the Borough. It is prepared in collaboration with agents, developers, landowners and promoters of sites and establishes the availability and achievability of such sites.
The preparation of a SELAA is a requirement under the National Planning Policy Framework. However, it is not the purpose of the SELAA to allocate land for development - this is undertaken through the preparation of the Local Plan.
A detailed SELAA methodology has been agreed with the other Greater Nottingham Councils to ensure a consistent approach and to clearly justify any assumptions used.
The assessment includes land that has come forward from a range of sources, including sites that have already been granted planning permission. It is important to note that inclusion in the SELAA process does not in itself allow for employment development to occur on site and that planning permission must still be granted.

The SELAA assessment and methodology is available to view in the PDF report and interactive map below, which includes details of each site and a link to a site plan with a summary of the assessment.
New SELAA sites
All suggestions for new SELAA sites will be considered. If you wish to put forward a site for consideration in the SELAA please complete the SELAA form and return it to us along with a map of the site. You can do this any time, which will be considered at the next SELAA update. We particularly welcome sites that are:
- In or adjoining the existing main built up area of Arnold and Carlton;
- In or adjoining the key settlements of Bestwood Village, Calverton and Ravenshead and;
- In or adjoining the other villages (depending on location).
If you wish to return a site submission form or have any questions about the SELAA please contact the Planning Policy Team via email at planningpolicy@gedling.gov.uk or on 0115 9013962.
