Talking therapies

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies

Free and confidential NHS service designed to help with common mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression. Anyone aged 18 years or over and registered with a GP can access support. It's safe to talk about suicide

If you are worried that someone may be thinking of committing suicide, or are in need of support yourself. There is support available on Suicide Prevention | Nottinghamshire County Council  website. If you need urgent crisis support, call the Nottinghamshire Mental Health Crisis Line on 0808 196 3779 (24/7) or the Samaritans on 116 123 (24/7 ).

SFiCE Foundation - Helping vulnerable adults

SFiCE offer free confidential support for those struggling emotionally and mentally. There are support line workers on hand to offer support with members of the team speaking English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Mirpuri.

Mental health support groups

Bereavement Buddies - Nottinghamshire Hospice, 384 Woodborough Road, Nottingham, NG3 4JF

Social support group with the emphasis on forming connections and friendships with others who are going through a bereavement. Free, drop in groups, so no need to book. Face to face meetings are on the 1st Monday and 3rd Friday of every month. Zoom meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month, from 2pm until 3.30pm.

Carlton Community Hub - Carlton

Supported by a wonderful team of volunteers who are offering refreshments and home-made light snacks such as scones and hot soup.  The cafe does not charge, the focus is on providing a safe space for the local community which offers befriending and signposting. A Gedling Borough Council Advisor is available on Tuesdays to support local residents.

Mental Health Befriending Group - Arnold

Supports people with mental health conditions, along with their carers, relatives and friends. Meet Fridays 11am- 2pm. Have a cup of tea and take part in an activity to support your mental health. Call 07514 775 514, email MHG@arnoldmethodistchurch.org.uk

Mental Health Wellbeing Cafe - Gedling

Mondays, 11am – 2pm. A safe space for support, chat, fun, games, quiet area, tea and coffee and there is prayer space if required.

Men in Sheds – Carlton

Men in Sheds is a ground-breaking project for older men. They have sheds in Carlton and you can take part in woodworking, skills sharing and socialising with other older men. Men in Sheds is a project run by Age UK Notts.

Mending Hearts Bereavement Group - Calverton

This bereavement group offers a listening ear and practical ways to cope and help people move forward if the time is right for them.

Phenomenal Futures - Arnot Hill Park, Arnold

Therapeutic activities for individuals and families affected by trauma including (but not exclusively) domestic abuse, and training for partner agencies on the impact of trauma on their clients. Talk Club Notts

A free, mental fitness community for men. No need to book just turn up. Last Tuesday of the month 7 - 9pm at The Robin Hood and Little John in Arnold and every 2nd Wednesday of the month from 7- 9pm at Carlton Town FC.
