Falls prevention classes

Falls prevention classes take place at Carlton Forum on Mondays, 1.30 - 3pm. 

These classes are led by qualified instructors and are designed for anyone over the age of 55 who has mobility or stability challenges.

If you would like to try these classes, you can be referred by a health or social care professional or refer yourself by either calling Your Health Your Way on 0115 772 2515 or complete an online form. Once referred, you can attend the classes for 12 weeks, for free.

Eligibility criteria:

  • A history of falls
  • Feeling unstable and having problems with strength and balance
  • Have a fear of falling
  • Needing motivation, supervision, monitoring, and help to choose the right type of exercise 
  • Be able to stand independently with/without walking aid
  • Be able to mobilise independently with/without walking aid
  • Have a history of fractures
  • Also for anyone that may have mobility, stability & balance challenges & would benefit from attending this type of exercise session

These classes are run by Your Health Your Way and ABL Health.

50+ Active for Life

Getting older doesn’t mean you have to slow down…

Our 50+ sessions give you the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities, with other like-minded people over 50 years of age and offer a meeting point where you can socialise, and make new friends in a relaxed and healthy environment. The sessions are included in DNA membership or with a Gedling Leisure card they cost £8.20 (without a Gedling Leisure card sessions cost £9.40.

What activities are included?

Fitness suite, swimming, sports hall activities (where available) such as badminton, table tennis, volleyball, group exercise sessions, virtual instructed exercise and indoor cycling. See our current timetable of activities below.

Tea and coffee available throughout the session.
