Her Spirit
Partnership for women launched
Gedling Leisure joined forces with Her Spirit in a new partnership to encourage more women to get active.
Women often face more insecurities and anxiety than men when it comes to exercising and we want to empower women with additional support and knowledge to help them gain confidence to be more active and learn more about strength training.
Strength training has many health benefits, including helping to build bone density, increase muscle mass and improve balance, helping to reduce the risk of injury and falls. This type of exercise is ideal to do alongside regular cardio exercises like going for a brisk walk, swimming or dancing.
As part of the Her Spirit partnership we have launched weekly 'Couch2Kilos' strength training classes for women (see details below).
'Couch2Kilos' classes
These classes will take place at Calverton, Carlton Forum and Redhill Leisure Centres. They will be dedicated to coaching women and girls aged 16+ in strength training. The instructor-led classes will teach the basics of lifting weights and help to build women’s confidence to exercise and will be a great opportunity to meet new people.
Women of all fitness abilities, who are looking for a new way to get active with the support of others, in a safe environment, are invited to join these classes.
